1- Disability Support Worker

We are a boutique disability support service provider that specialises in providing one on one support and supported independent living services for adults living with disability. Our mission is to provide a people focused disability support service that empowers our clients to live a life of their choosing. We have Casual positions available.

GCN started in Melbourne, 2019 and we are looking for enthusiastic support workers to join us as we expand our company and begin to provide services in Perth.

About the Role

Global Care Network is seeking passionate and experienced disability support workers to join our Perth based team. 

The job will require you to assist in all aspects of the clients' personal care including meals, showering, toileting, administering of medication and dressing, as well as community participation. 

The role will have a variety of shifts usually between 8-12 hours in length. We offer morning/day shifts, evening shifts and sleepover shifts. 

The successful applicant must:

  • Deliver the highest quality in-home, personalised care
  • Be enthusiastic and energetic
  • Have with a "anything is possible" attitude
  • Be able to use their initiative
  • Have a Police Clearance (less than 6 months old)
  • Have a current valid Australian Drivers Licence and access to a vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
  • Have practical experience using a hoist

The successful applicant will be a reliable, trustworthy individual who is able to follow instructions, use their initiative and manage time well. You will have a positive outlook on life, be approachable and have a sense of humour. You will be willing to grow with the client and the organisation.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Certificate III, IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Disability Services, or other relevant qualification.
  • Current Australian Drivers licence
  • National Police check (Within 6 months)
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Practical experience using a hoist
  • Experience working with mental and psycho-social disability 
  • Have their own car and car insurance
  • Manual Handling 

Additional Qualifications (but not mandatory)

  • Nursing background
  • Experience in high care client needs

Tasks and Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Support to access the community and provision of transport
  • Domestic assistance to ensure a clean environment
  • House and yard maintenance
  • Assistance with grocery shopping and record keeping
  • Personal care assistance, including toileting and showering
  • Support with medication and health management plan
  • Assistance with meal preparation & feeding

2- Disability Support Worker Team Leader

With the recent growth of our business we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Team Leader to join us! The role is a combination of leading the support worker team and providing direct care to our clients. 

In order to be considered you will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a similar role at a disability services support provider
  • Commitment to our values; Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Commitment, Passion and Individualism

Team Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Providing direct support to your team of support workers
  • Acquisition of new participants 
  • Supervision and training of support workers 
  • Recruitment and training new staff when needed
  • Learning the needs and routines of our clients to structure supports as necessary
  • Overseeing staff rostering, progress note reporting, incident reports and other documentation and administrative duties as required
  • Attending staff meetings as required

Direct Care to Clients Responsibilities: 

  • Support participants to ensure their goals can be achieved in line with their NDIS plan
  • Ensure participants are supported in engaging with community outings and activities
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of participants
  • Ensure participants have access to provision of transport
  • Domestic assistance including clean environment, house and yard maintenance
  • Assistance with grocery shopping and record keeping
  • Personal care assistance, including toileting and showering
  • Support with medication and health management plan
  • Assistance with meal preparation

Essential:

  • At least two years experience in the disability support services sector
  • Experience in a leadership position where you managed a team
  • Practical experience assisting adults that require high levels of care
  • Practical experience using a hoist
  • Certificate II, IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Disability Services, or other relevant qualification
  • Current valid Australian Drivers licence 
  • Own a reliable car or have access to a vehicle
  • National Police check (Within 3 years)
  • Current First Aid Certificate

Desirable:

  • Nursing background
  • Current Employee Working with Children check for Western Australia
  • Proficient in using computer software including Microsoft Word & Excel
